iPhone 7 was revealed today at a special Apple event in San Francisco. At the event, Apple CEO Tim Cook, along with some of the people who helped develop the new smartphone, showed off the new iPhone; How it looks, and how it works.
Here is what you need to know.
The new iPhone 7 costs $649 USD
The new iPhone 7 Plus costs $769 USD
That's the most important news. But before they revealed the prices, Apple gave people another one of their shows.
As always, the event was one big hugfest for Apple, and they did not miss out on the opportunity to let the world know just how great they are. But the spotlight was on the iPhone. It is, as Tim Cook and his companions repeated several times, “the best iPhone we've ever made.”
Does this imply that they would ever release a new version of the iPhone that wasn't the best one they had ever made? It seems obvious that they would only release something that would be an upgrade, so why they would have to repeat the statement so often seems odd.
Anyway...
During the presentation they broke down why the new iPhone is so good. They started with the design. They used several stunning phrases to describe the design and how it came to be.

“One truly uninterrupted form”
“Intricate geometry”
“Pristine mirror-like surface”
“Magnetized ultra-fine iron particle bath”
They went from these breathtaking verbal images to the big moment when they revealed the names of the new colors you can get the iPhone in.
“Black”
“Jet Black”
The engineers at Apple have proven time and time again that they are some of the best people at what they do. The ones who write the jokes that are presented at these events still have some work to do before they can claim the same.
But as the jokes got worse, the details got better.
Apple announced that the new iPhone would be water and dust resistant. This sounds like major news, but it is important to note that they said water and dust RESISTANT and not PROOF.
They said that iPhone 7 has the IP67 Protection Standard. Unfortunately, that means that you still can't take your smartphone diving without extra protection. What it does mean, however, is that you can have it at 1 meter below the surface (ca. 3 feet), for about 30 minutes. In other words: Good for taking some cool pictures in shallow waters.
Those pictures will be taken with the redesigned cameras. All cameras, 2 on iPhone 7 and 3 on
iPhone 7 Plus, have seen massive enhancements, as well as some new functions. The ability to take pictures in dark places has been improved, thanks to a better flashlight. Also, the iPhone 7 Plus, with its 2 cameras on the back, now has a better zoom, as well as new ways to create exactly the pictures you would want.
Apple showed off some pictures that were taken with the new iPhones, and they had several professionals saying how the new cameras should be music to any up-and-coming photographer's
ears.
Speaking of music, you can now listen to music, as well as watch videos, shows, and movies, with stereo sound. Apple put one speaker at the top of the phone, and one at the bottom to increase audio. Now, if you turn it all the way up to 11, it should be double the volume compared to what you could have before.
But that is if you want to play sounds through the loudspeakers. There were other news regarding how you will be listening to audio through headphones. No longer will you be able to plug your AUX jack headphones directly into the phone. Headphones will be going through a Lightning cable. You can, however, still use your old headphones, as Apple will include a Lightning-AUX adapter in the box.
To close out the section of technical details about the new phone, Apple used 400 flying monkeys as an example to show how the machine performs. They talked about how their microchips will increase speed and performance compared to older versions, and they also bragged about how long the new batteries would last. According to them, if you upgrade from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 7, on average you'll have 2 more hours of battery.

At this point, all that was left to announce about the iPhone 7 was the price. As you can imagine, people were not thrilled about the price, but they were given a little extra treat when it was revealed that the storage capacity of the phones is being doubled.
It was, however, a somber mood hanging over the crowd as the show drew to an end. But in an attempt to finish go out on a high note, Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage to introduce the artist called Sia.
She was definitely able to hit some high notes, but she's not be the topic everyone will be talking about after this reveal. The new iPhone will undoubtedly create reactions, both good and bad, but one thing is pretty certain: Apple will be selling a lot of these smartphones, and you can be sure we will hear about it next time they decide to host an event like this.
You will be able to order the iPhone 7 on Friday, September 9th. It will be shipped to selected locations on September 16th, with remaining locations being added as soon as possible.
